As I've said elsewhere, the points assigned to each prompt is sort of arbitrary and, in fact, I've wibbled about posting it because I'm sure people will have differing ideas on what's complicated and what isn't. Just remember that the whole points thing is a nice little way to push yourself if you like competitions and not the end all and be all of the challenge.

Points will be awarded based on the prompt you choose to list as the primary prompt.

Prompts & Points )

In addition to the points for each prompts, there are bonus points for using the same story more than once, using the same prompt more than once and completing the entire list of prompts.

Bonus Points and how they work )

I've probably made some kind of mistake here. If so, PM me please.

Also, please remember to tag your fics with the name of the original author. Thanks!

I've changed the tag settings so that all members can tag. I have gone back and tagged the two fic posts that have already been made, but from now on please tag your own posts.

Do not tag with anything other than author, original author, fandom, and prompt. The format is author: your name, original author: author name, fandom: your fandom, prompt: 01, etc. (The prompt tags have already been prepopulated.)

You may post remixes or links to a remix to the comm as you write them or you may wait until the challenge is over and post a list of links to the remixes you've done for the challenge.

When you post your fic, please add the following information to your header:

Prompt Used: Please list the primary prompt--the one you chose when you decided to write this remix/the one you want the fic tagged with--only. If you list more than one prompt, I will assume that you meant to do several prompts at once and will put the fic under Prompt Twenty-Four (use two or more prompts).

A Link to the original story with author credit. If the person did not offer their fic, but you obtained permission, say so on this line.

So if I remixed one of [personal profile] helens78's fics my header might look like this:

Title: Curious About Leather (the Boom Chicka Wa Wa Remix)
Author [personal profile] telesilla
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Viggo/Bean
Rating: NC-17
Contains: sex between an adult and a teenager.
Original Story: Cuious About Leather by [personal profile] helens78
Primary Prompt: 17

This template is an example only but it's got the information I need.

About warnings: You must include some kind of warning for 1) underage sex, 2) graphic violence, 3) character death, and 4) rape/non-con. If you wish to warn for other things, you may, of course.

You do not have to use the word "warning"; you're welcome to use "contains" or some other wording, provided you let people know if your fic contains any of the above four things. If you feel a warning would spoil your story, you may also choose to gray out your warning/content information line, or you may link to the end of your story and put your warnings/content information there.

If you don't know how to gray out warning/contents texts, that information is here. Thanks to [personal profile] alexseanchai for the link.

Tags: Fic will be tagged by Prompt, Author, Fandom and Remixed Author. So to continue with my example, the above fic would be tagged:

prompt: 17, author: telesilla, remixed: helens78, fandom: lotrips

About Fic titles. You don't have to do the Story Name Here (remix name here) thing if you don't want to.

This is the list of the writers who have offered fic. It will be updated as necessary, at least once a week if not more often.

If you have a question for a particular writer, either PM them or leave a reply to their sign up comment on the Sign Up Post.

This list is up to date as of April 9.

How It All Works

Please note, there's been a slight change to the rules about what fics may be remixed. You may remix a fic by someone who has not offered their fic on the comm, provided you obtain permission and note that you've obtained that permission in your author's notes.

Also, the points system is under revision. More on that when we've figured it out.

The Prompt List

The List )

I want to reiterate that you are not limited to using one type of prompt and one type only in your remixes. You may remix the story as you like, provided the prompt you're filling is at the forefront of the story. To use the example for Prompt Nineteen, if you are retelling a romance as a noir detective story, you may also change the person from third to first, the tense from present to past, and use flashbacks. As long as your main emphasis is still be on the genre change, you're good.

I'd like to thank the following people who offered ideas for prompts and/or let me bounce ideas off them. If I've left you out, my apologies; feel free to correct met.

Important: These are only one person's interpretations of the prompts. They're open to your own interpretation as you remix and, if you feel like it, I welcome additional ideas/points of view in the comments. Also, as I mentioned in the rules, some overlap is possible, so keep that in mind as you look at the prompts.

I've tried to sort the prompts into several categories, just to make it easier to post these extended explanations of each prompt.

The last bunch of prompts are pretty much everything that's left.

Let's move on to what I called "Format Prompts." This will actually be fairly short, as most of these don't require longer explanations, so I'll be adding in another short section of prompts.

So let's start with what I'm calling "Style Prompts" for lack of a better phrase. They're also all things that are allowed in Remix Redux, so if you've remixed before, they're probably going to be familiar choices.

Remix Goes Wild is a low pressure, long term, non-exchange remix challenge that allows you to remix your own fic as well as fic written by others. Using a set up based very loosely on the old table challenges, the challenge will be to do different types of remixes based on a list of remix prompts. In other words, you take Story A and remix it by changing the POV and then move on to Story B and remix it by adding a missing scene and then move on to Story C and...well you get the idea.

In addition to the goals listed above, the idea of this challenge is to push the boundaries of what constitutes a remix. How far can you change a story before it is no longer a remix of the original but a story very similar to the original? The prompts were designed with that in mind and also with the hope that people will have fun with them.

Your mods are [personal profile] telesilla and [personal profile] torachan.
