Important: These are only one person's interpretations of the prompts. They're open to your own interpretation as you remix and, if you feel like it, I welcome additional ideas/points of view in the comments. Also, as I mentioned in the rules, some overlap is possible, so keep that in mind as you look at the prompts.

I've tried to sort the prompts into several categories, just to make it easier to post these extended explanations of each prompt.

Now we have the Identity/Character Prompts.

Prompt Fourteen: Remix by changing some aspect of one or more characters' sexuality.

You can go for a simple exchange here--for example, making a character who's always been bisexual, asexual. Or you can add a "woke up gay" or maybe a "woke up kinky," subplot to a fic and see how that changes it. Please remember that you will be changing the sexuality of the character as written in the story and not their canon sexuality.

Prompt Fifteen: Remix by changing the sex and/or gender of one or more character.

This allows for any number of changes. You can make one or more character transsexual. You can completely gender-reverse everyone in the story/canon--as [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn did with the cast of Star Trek (2009). You can gender-reverse a single character so that instead of being John Watson, it's Joan Watson and has been all her life. You can slip a whole "woke up as the opposite sex" subplot into the story. Please note, this is not a "change the sexuality" prompt. If you want to make a gay character asexual, that falls under Prompt Fourteen.

Prompt Sixteen: Remix by Racebending.

The obvious example here is the chromatic casting meme from a year ago. There's not much to add here; it's pretty straight-forward.

Prompt Seventeen: Remix by changing the age of one or more characters.

You can either go with just changing the age of the character(s) from the beginning--making them little kids, or teens, or adults, or seniors--or you can have them suddenly age up or de-age during the course of the story.

Prompt Eighteen: Remix the story bringing background characters forward

Tell the story of the original fic's secondary characters, while backgrounding the protags of the original fic. You can also use canon background characters that aren't in the fic or even invent your own Ensign Who Works On the Bridge of the Enterprise and tell the story through her eyes.

Questions on these particular prompts? Suggestions on how to use them? This is the place.

I'd like to thank the following people who offered ideas for prompts and/or let me bounce ideas off them. If I've left you out, my apologies; feel free to correct met.
