Important: These are only one person's interpretations of the prompts. They're open to your own interpretation as you remix and, if you feel like it, I welcome additional ideas/points of view in the comments. Also, as I mentioned in the rules, some overlap is possible, so keep that in mind as you look at the prompts.

I've tried to sort the prompts into several categories, just to make it easier to post these extended explanations of each prompt.

The last bunch of prompts are pretty much everything that's left.

Prompt Twenty-Four: Remix using two or more prompts (except Prompt Twenty-Six) from the list.

This is where you get to do whatever you like to the story and not have to worry about keeping a single remix type in the foreground. De-age people and put them in a were-wolf AU, if you like, just remember that you do need to keep enough of the original story to consider it a remix.

Prompt Twenty-Five: Remix by doing a mashup of two or more elements from two or more fics by the same author.

Exactly what it says on the tin. Take the pairing from one fic, add it to the plot of the second and then throw in that one scene with the strawberries that you like from fic three.

Prompt Twenty-Six: Remix the story in a different fandom

Again what it says on the tin. And yes, you need to change the characters and pairings to keep it from being a fusion or crossover.

Prompt Twenty-Seven: Remix the story as crackfic or remix a crackfic into a serious story.

We're going to leave the definition of crackfic up to you, because for some people it's wingfic or mpreg, for example, while other people aren't willing to call it crack unless you've turned Alec, Eliot and Parker into Hostess Snack Cakes. This overlaps with a lot of prompts, but don't worry about that, it's here so your remix can be as silly as you like. Or you can take the One Where They're Office Supplies and turn it into a serious story. Obviously this could be considered part of Prompt Four, but we wanted to offer it as a seperate prompt.

Prompt Twenty-Eight: Remix the story in a way not listed here. (Optional)

This prompt is here in case you suddenly have a lightbulb moment and think "oh hey, I could do "this"--where "this" isn't a variant of something on this list--to the story and remix it that way!" Go right ahead! After thinking it over, I've decided that you don't have to complete this prompt to get the bonus for completing the full list of prompts. After all, the list of prompts is as inclusive as a bunch of people could make it, so not everyone can come up with something new.

Prompt Twenty-Nine: Remix one of your own stories into an original fic.

Your chance to see how filing off the serial numbers changes your work. To avoid problems down the line, you may only remix your own stories for this prompt.

Questions on these particular prompts? Suggestions on how to use them? This is the place.

I'd like to thank the following people who offered ideas for prompts and/or let me bounce ideas off them. If I've left you out, my apologies; feel free to correct met.

This might not be the place to raise the issue, but one of your prompt description matches what I was pondering:

"This is where you get to do whatever you like to the story and not have to worry about keeping a single remix type in the foreground." (for prompt 24)

I was just starting to think something like this:

Other remixes have had stricter rules (they allowed less changes) BUT they were also more free, in the sense that you weren't bound to One Type of Change as you worked. And I wonder if you want us to be, here?

Like, I get that we should be foregrounding / focusing on the prompt X that we're trying to fill, but I would hope it doesn't preclude making other changes, you know? After all, if I am supposed to retell a story except Rodney is a cisgenderd woman, there is a good chance I'll also be changing the order of scenes, possibly some causality in the chain of events, possibly the tone, possibly the genre, and possibly Rodney's sexuality too - it's not mandatory, but it's also not an exhaustive list of the stuff I might find myself changing, and so I guess I'm asking, should I be scrutinizing my changes to make sure I do nothing more than change stuff According To My Prompt (which would feel stressful and difficult, imo); or should I just not worry about it and try to keep prompt X me the most Major Change?
