Important: These are only one person's interpretations of the prompts. They're open to your own interpretation as you remix and, if you feel like it, I welcome additional ideas/points of view in the comments. Also, as I mentioned in the rules, some overlap is possible, so keep that in mind as you look at the prompts.

I've tried to sort the prompts into several categories, just to make it easier to post these extended explanations of each prompt.

Let's move on to what I called "Format Prompts." This will actually be fairly short, as most of these don't require longer explanations, so I'll be adding in another short section of prompts.

Format Prompts:

Prompt Seven: Remix the story structurally/in a different format

This is where you get to play around with different ways of presenting the story. You can write a mission report, an epistolary story, make the fic into a series of collector's cards, or a school primer, or a facebook, etc.

Prompt Eight: Remix a drabble into a longer story of at least 500 words.

This one is pretty self-explanatory.

Prompt Nine: Remix a story of at least 500 words or longer into to a drabble.

Also self-explanatory. Please note: we're talking about a true drabble of exactly 100 words here.

Prompt Ten: Remix a specific scene from a fic into a stand alone fic.

Yet again...self-explanatory.

Seriously, I'm kind of embarrassed at not having more to say about these prompts, but why pad it? :)

On to the Ship/Gen prompts:

Ship/Gen Prompts

Prompt Eleven: Remix a relationship story into a gen story.

Not everyone interprets "gen" the same way, so for the purposes of this fest, we'll allow very deep background pairings, both canon and non-canon--example, a mention by the main characters of a paired up couple and so on. However the main point of this is to focus on writing a gen story.

Prompt Twelve: Prompt Three: Remix a gen story into a relationship story.

This is another self-explanatory prompt.

Prompt Thirteen: Remix by changing or adding to the pairing of a ship story.

You may change the entire pairing--turn Jared/Jensen story into a Kane/Misha story. You may change half the pairing--turn a Sherlock/Watson story into a Lestrade/Watson story. You may turn a m/m or f/f story into a het story--turn a McShep story into a Rodney/Teyla story. Are you a fan of a rare pair? Here's your chance to see how an OTP story works with your pairing. The one thing we ask is that you only use characters within the same canon--in other words, no crossovers, that's for a later prompt.

In cases of pairings that are are also moresomes, you may add or subtract partners. So, for example, you could add Lestrade to Sherlock/Watson to make it Lestrade/Sherlock/Watson. Or, you could take Rodney out of an SGA OT4 and write John/Ronon/Teyla or even take John out and make it Ronon/Teyla.

Questions on these particular prompts? Suggestions on how to use them? This is the place.

I'd like to thank the following people who offered ideas for prompts and/or let me bounce ideas off them. If I've left you out, my apologies; feel free to correct met.

*reads edit* Heh. See how I'd describe it is "The set of partners contained in the central relationship of the story must change in some way", but that's probably not clearer to most people :)
